With the dwindling daylight hours in Fall of 2023 I started looking for a new bike mounted light. I’m a big fan of NiteRider lights and ended up getting the Lumina Dual 1800 to go along with my helmet mounted Lumina 750.

New light in hand I wanted a better way to attach it to my bikes. Usually lights come with some type of mount that uses a rubber strap to attach it around the handlebars. This option works fine and it’s pretty simple but there are some things I don’t like with this option.
- No matter how tight you make the rubber strap it’s never tight enough and the light ends up moving out of position.
- It doesn’t look great. The light is mounted on the left or right side of the bar and just doesn’t have a clean look.
My bikes already had an out front mount on them for my Wahoo head unit. The out front mount can be put anywhere on the bars. But the real benefit is that you can use it to center your head unit with the stem for a cleaner look and negligible aerodynamic gains.

Since you can attach a device on the top and bottom of these mounts the plan was to keep the Wahoo unit on top and put the light on the bottom. Unfortunately I didn’t realize how big the light actually was and it wasn’t even close to fitting with these mounts.
Eventually I came across these mounts on Amazon. These are almost identical to each other. The Thinvik being wider to allow mounting up to 38mm stems and the Dymoece being narrower for dropbar stems. As of writing this I’ve had these on my gravel and mountain bike for 6 months and they have been fantastic. The build quality is pretty good. Unlike plastic mounts these don’t feel like they are going to snap off if you hit a tree branch or take a spill. For me these are great and ticked every box I was looking for.
I only have 2 minor complaints. They scratch somewhat easily (which I expected) and they didn’t come with black bolts.
